Ideal 1966 Spider-man Puppet

Truly a rare item from the year 1966 is the Spider-man Ideal Puppet. He was issued in a solid box, and bagged with a header card. Both are so rare its scary. Most of the puppets can be found loose, and occasionally on ebay. The toy was released before the popularity of the Spider-man cartoon, and probably only released because of the Batman craze, and subsequent interest in other heroes after that. So very rare to find, and I know of only 2 still in the original packaging.

Goofy Live action homage to 60′s Spider-man Cartoon!

This is a goofy tribute to the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon, specifically the 2nd and 3rd seasons produced by Ralph Bakshi. This is essentially the 1967 cartoon in live action. This 1989 student fan film was created by Jim Kreig, who would soon go on to be an animator for Spider-Man TAS and various other animated projects still to this day!

This fan film takes very specific visual homages and story beats from several episodes of the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon: Kingpinned, Criminals In The Clouds. Try to spot what they are..

Hi everyone,

I’ll be blogging here from time to time, trying to stir up more interest in Sy’s incredible website and message boards.

I’ve been a Spidey fan since the age of 4 when the 1967 cartoon debuted. I started getting the comic books back then and have never stopped… I still have all the Spider-Man comics from that time on!

I got plenty of toys and memorabilia as a child, then really jumped in the collectibles as an adult. Just a couple of years before the start of eBay I was buying like crazy! Toy Shop magazine was my primary source of “finds”, but I also made a few “buying trips”, hitting toy shows in the northeast part of the USA. A few times I was joined on these “adventures” with a great “Spidey-collecting friend” I met from Canada. He was a good source of Spidey information and also spurred me on to want to collect more. More about our adventures in a latter post!

Looking forward to receiving any suggestions about what you’d like me to blog about in the future!

Ultimate Spider-man Cartoon debuts in 2012!

Marvel is prepping to unleash their new animated series early next year and, for those fans who missed out on seeing the first graphics and footage at this month’s C2E2 convention, they have released new promo image from the show.

Brian Michael Bendis — creator of the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series, a modernized re-imagining of the webbed wall crawler — at C2E2 after the well received footage premiere, and he seemed just as anticipated for the show’s release as the fans are.

“I’ve written two episodes for the first season. Paul Dini, Jeff Loeb and I and rest of the team put some hard work into it. It’s going to be a fun and exciting show that fans want to see; I can’t wait for them to see it.”

Ultimate Spider-man 2012 Cartoon

The cartoon series will show young Peter Parker dealing with his parents’ legacy, balancing high school, a job, a girlfriend, his family life with his widowed aunt May, and his activities as Spider-Man; all the while battling new super villains continuously arriving in New York City. The animated adaptation will involve plenty of guest appearances from Marvel’s arsenal of superheroes, and is scheduled to air on Disney XD the Spring of 2012.

Here is a 1974 licensed Spiderman ball. Classic artwork Spiderman pose by John Romita Sr. that originally appeared on the cover of the 1974 Treasury. Maybe the first time this artwork appeared on a toy, as it showed up quite a bit during the seventies and the eighties.

Marvel Spiderman Processed Plastic Figures!

Made by the company “Processed Plastics”, these plastic figures were part of a playset released in 1981. The holes in their hands were for inserting a string through to replicate sliding down Spider-man’s web. Beware of bootleg figures that are smaller in size and without the holes. You can also tell these bootleg figures by their rough feet, and smaller base size. Other figures release within several of these sets were Captain America, Red Skull, Thor, Ironman, Falcon, Hulk, Doctor Doom, Green Goblin, Human Torch, Namor the Sub-mariner, and Doctor Octopus.
